LOS FELIZ ESTATES OWNERS ASSOCIATION
BOARD OF DIRECTORS  2006

At the LFEOA Annual Meeting, held on November 15, 2005, the Board of Directors for the 2006 calendar year was elected by homeowners. Below are the board member bios in alphabetical order.

BRUCE CARROLL - 71 votes   SECRETARY, LEGAL CHAIR, WEBMASTER
I am a native Angeleno who majored in government at Columbia University. I was a producer, writer and editor for ABC Network News for three decades before semi-retiring and have lived and worked in this area for over 37 years.

During the years I have served on the LFEOA Board as Secretary and Legal Chair we have successfully defended challenges to our CC&Rs all the way up to the California Supreme Court and we have recovered over $130,000 in legal expenses and fees. That has helped control our annual assessments while strengthening homeowner protection. We have also received homeowner approval of needed changes to both the LFEOA CC&Rs and By-laws which help the Association to fulfill its mission.

As part of my dedication to community involvement, I was just elected to a second term on the Board of Directors of the Greater Griffith Park Neighborhood Council and created its website along with those for the LFEOA and the nearby Franklin Hills Residents Association where I have served as treasurer for 14 years. I thank you for your past support and look forward to continuing to do all I can do to keep the Los Feliz Estates a very special corner of LA.

JACK COHON - 69 votes   VICE PRESIDENT, LANDSCAPE CHAIR
Born in Los Angeles, my wife Marlene and I have been homeowners in the estates since 1975.  A veteran of WWII in the U.S. Navy, I am a graduate of the University of Southern California, College of Engineering.  I am a retired senior engineer, Southern California Edison Company and a senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers. It has been my privilege to work for the Association for the past ten years as your Landscape chairman.

BRUCE JAY - 72 votes   PRESIDENT
Over 28 years I have been actively licensed by the California Department of Real Estate. Owning a local Real Estate Brokerage and Mortgage Company has given me the experience needed to help many Homeowners. Being a Professional Property Manager I am able to share years of expertise with our Association. Through specialized courses I have earned the designation of Certified Residential Specialist, issued by the California Association of Realtors. Although the learning process is never ending, my professional experience is a great asset to the Los Feliz Estates Owners Association.

I am honored to have served as Board President, and I urge each Homeowner to maintain the continuity of our Board and support our dedicated existing Board Members in this election. I love the Los Feliz Estates. It is a truly wonderful place to live. After all, it has been my home for close to 40 years!

RON KRAFT - 69 votes  TREASURER, ARCHITECTURE CHAIR
Though born and raised in Manhattan, my heart belongs to California where I have lived for over 20 years. I’m a graduate of Stanford University and work in corporate communications for Amgen, world’s largest biotechnology company.

From the very first time we saw our house in the Los Feliz Estates, we knew that this was the house we wanted and this was the neighborhood we wanted to live in. Now, I’d like to join the board to give something back to this great community and help preserve what makes it so special.

As a board member, I would focus on the things I am most passionate about: fiscal responsibility, safety, being a good neighbor, the rigorous enforcement of the CCRs and the power of good design oversight to enhance the value of all of our homes.

Finally, I’d like to thank the retiring board members for their dedicated service, and if elected I promise to dedicate my skills and energy to building on their fine work and making Los Feliz Estates an even better and more beautiful place to live.

MIMI RICCI - 68 votes   SECURITY CHAIR
I am a long time resident of the Los Feliz Estates. I am a Real Estate Broker and also a manager of Real Property. I have had the pleasure of serving on the Board of the LFEOA for the past seven years and know first hand that the close teamwork of the board has been invaluable in dealing effectively with the Estates affairs.

As your security chairperson I have worked hard to keep costs (and annual dues) low and protection high. I have developed an effective communicative relationship with the diligent officers who patrol our streets and Post Alarm management. Reports from Los Feliz Oaks and areas south and east of the Estates show much more frequent incidents of crimes at homes and on the streets. As a new mother, I feel that family safety is everyone's highest concern.

We get a lot of protection for our bucks and it has always been my highest priority to review what we are doing and where we can improve to meet new challenges. I would be happy to serve as a board member again and will continue to do my best to keep the Estates running efficiently and peacefully.
